Julian Bellamy is a member of the FTSE-listed ITV plc Executive Board and the Managing Director of ITV Studios, the creative force behind some of the world's most recognizable television. Since taking the helm, Julian has transformed the group into a global production and distribution powerhouse, doubling its revenue and overseeing a massive portfolio of 60 production labels across 13 international markets.

With a catalogue exceeding 110,000 hours, Julian holds strategic responsibility for nearly 7,000 hours of original programming annually. His remit spans everything from prestige dramas like Line of Duty, Vigil, and Mr Bates vs The Post Office to global unscripted phenomena such as The Voice and Love Island. Under his leadership, ITV Studios was named the Edinburgh TV Festival's Production Group of the Year.

Beyond traditional production, Julian has championed the group's expansion into new media frontiers, including the strategic development of Zoo 55 - a dedicated company for digital, gaming and metaverse innovation. Julian is also committed to the longevity of the industry. In 2023, he oversaw the launch of the ITV Academy to foster new talent and upskill the workforce, while simultaneously evolving the industry's leading duty-of-care policies to protect those both in front of and behind the camera.

Career Background

Julian joined ITV in 2014 from Discovery Networks International, where as Creative Director and Head of Commissioning, he drove production and development across 200 countries, managing commissioning teams across five international hubs.

This global perspective was preceded by a series of high-profile leadership roles in British broadcasting, including Controller of BBC Three and serving as Head of Channel 4, where he oversaw an annual slate of over 2,000 hours of original programming and launched era-defining hits such as Undercover Boss and One Born Every Minute.

Julian began his career in the field as a current affairs producer and director, contributing to investigative landmarks including ITV's World in Action and Channel 4's Dispatches. A respected voice in the global media industry, Julian sits on the Board of Trustees for The Royal Television Society and is a Governor of the National Film and Television School.
