Episode 1: Peak District
In a new series, Gethin Jones and Charlotte Uhlenbroek uncover a side of the British outdoors that only the adventurous will ever see. This week, they're in the Derbyshire Peaks where Gethin gets a bird's eye view from a microlight, while Charlotte takes her courage in her hands and descends into a spooky underworld labyrinth.
Episode 2: Yorkshire’s Crumbling Coast
Gethin Jones and Charlotte Uhlenbroek head to North Yorkshire to discover just how far a spirit of adventure will get them along this famous crumbling coastline. Taking to the chilly North Sea, they kayak to a remote inaccessible cove in search of fossils. While Charlotte forages for wild food along the shore, Gethin tackles the highest cliff on England’s east coast.
Episode 3: Wild Lake District
Today on The Adventure's Guide To Britain Gethin and Charlotte try to uncover a hidden Lake District that most of the National Park's 16 million visitors overlook. Gethin gets chilled to the bone trying the new sport of wilderness fishing; while Charlotte gets a canoe's eye view of Ullswater, the Lake District's biggest lake, that only the lucky few get to see. Only a stone's throw from the busy lake, Charlotte guides Gethin to a grandstand view of one of England's only herds of truly wild Red deer. Then together they take a dip in nature's very own infinity pool - as they wild swim in a hilltop tarn.
Episode 4: Waterfall Country
Gethin and Charlotte head to the North Pennines in search of adventure and unearth a hidden gem. Upper Teesdale is one of Britain’s least visited beauty spots yet its home to some of its most spectacular waterfalls. Charlotte investigates the unique flora around Cauldron Snout which lays claim to being England’s longest waterfall. Gethin braves a terrifying crawl through a two hundred and forty year old lead mine and together they face the full force of the river Tees to try out a breathtaking white water craze.
Episode 5: Smuggler's Coast
Gethin Jones and Charlotte Uhlenbroek explore the Pembroke National Park, a coastline rich with wildlife, shipwrecks and smuggler’s caves. They take to the sea where Charlotte has a priceless encounter with an inquisitive grey seal and Gethin tries his hand at free-diving for spiny spider crabs. After a night under the stars their adventure ends with a splash as they explore the region’s famous smuggler’s caves and take a leap of faith into Davy Jones’ Locker.
Episode 6: Secret Exmoor
Gethin and Charlotte use their adventuring know-how to reveal a side of Exmoor that few get to see. Gethin is shown the ropes of a new adventure sport that sees him scale a hundred year old Oak Tree. Charlotte has a once in a lifetime encounter with Exmoor’s most famous residents – the wild ponies. Together they tread a terrifying path to discover Exmoor’s finest view but the highlight of their trip is a terrifying night-time vigil suspended 30 feet in the air to listen in on a creature of the night.
